Amanda Blum

Amanda Blum is a freelancer who writes about smart home technology, gardening, and food preservation.

Previously, Amanda has worked as a technology strategist specializing in problem solving and processes. She holds a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and has spoken about content management systems and technology strategy all over the world, and run a number of popular tech conferences, including TwilioCon, WordCamps, RailsGirls, and Twestival.

She has written for publications like Oprah, Good Housekeeping, Gastronomica, xoJane, Eating Well and Taste of Home, and has been writing for Lifehacker since 2017, covering topics like cheesemaking, how not to cook a goose, how to use technology to help rear chickens, and every kind of robot on the market.

Amanda lives in Oregon where she runs a microfarm and raises chickens (Marsala, Kiev, Korma and Cacciatore), a doberman (Blueberry), and hundreds of smart home devices (unnamed).
